GREEN Travelers: the 10 rules to follow
Let's talk about sustainable tourism and how we should behave during our travels to limit waste, respect the territory and the people who live there.

Here are the 10 rules of eco-sustainable travel shared by volagratis.com during the “World Tourism Day”:

1. In hotels, participate in the towel and linen reuse program. Avoid having them washed every morning during your stay;

2. Do not print your plane ticket but use the app. You can download and save your boarding pass and access all your booking information. Even offline.

3. Look for a hotel that is not far from the city you are visiting: this will limit travel and CO2 emissions;

3.webp

4. To visit the city, use public transport, or rent a bicycle. You can borrow one from your hotel or check if there is a bike-sharing service in the city;

4.webp

5. Avoid wasting resources even in hotels (turn off air conditioning when leaving, close the water when not needed, turn off lights when leaving the room);

5.webp

6. Support local commerce and craftsmanship by choosing local products as souvenirs; do not buy items made from plants or animals at risk of extinction.

6.webp

7. Prefer local dishes in restaurants that use local or zero-kilometer products.

7.webp

8. Follow recycling rules even abroad.

8.webp

9. Choose low-impact destinations (blue flag beaches, orange flag municipalities, nature reserves, walking trails).

9.webp

10. Respect the customs, religion, and lifestyles of the place you are visiting.

It is our duty to add an eleventh rule... during our travels as in everyday life, it is necessary to respect the environment and the most important resource we have, water. 11. Aim for water savings during your daily routine: prefer showers over baths, install aerated faucets, run washing machines and dishwashers only when full, turn off taps while brushing your teeth or shaving.

WATER IS LIFE!
