From Antiparos, Greek island in the Cyclades archipelago, BIOROCK was contacted by the operators of a new resort with 16 villas (each with a pool) and a central building with a restaurant. The solution was identified in a MULTIROCK system, composed of multiple compact, high-efficiency BIO-F units with a small footprint: the lack of available space to place the wastewater treatment plant was one of the main difficulties of this case. The resort requested a treatment plant with a capacity of 22,000 liters per day capable of adapting to the seasonality of the facility: the peak wastewater load period occurs during the six months of the summer season, while for the rest of the year the inflow is very low. This aspect poses a problem for most plants, while BIOROCK specializes in extremely flexible septic systems in this regard, supported by exclusive filtering technology that retains moisture and allows the treatment of effluent to continue even during periods of low inflow. Efforts were made to configure a solution that could withstand the expected high summer loads and maintain high treatment performance even in the winter months, finding the answer to the challenges of the case in a system with a 70 m3 tank for primary treatment, a multiple BIO-F unit, and a flow control system.
